Earth laughs in flowers - Ralph Waldo Emerson
Our silk bandanas are crafted from pure habotai silk and finished with a hand-rolled hem sewn with silk thread, so that the colours take evenly when dyed. These bandanas are 29" squares, and can be used in a variety of ways - we love them as a neck scarf, or tied into our hair.
We've painted a selection of these scarves in our signature brush stroke style. Others are dyed with our solid botanical colours, and we've also done some as bundle dyes. Bundle dyeing is a process of carefully steaming silk with flowers and plants. In this process, pigments and shapes are gently transferred. The result resembles a watercolour painting and each one is completely unique. Each scarf in this series is individually numbered, so you can choose exactly which one you want and know that it's the only one exactly like it.
Silk scarves come packaged in boxes that specify the dye material used and care directions.
We source our silk bandanas from an ethical manufacturer from China, where most of the world's silk is woven. Each is then carefully washed, mordanted, and botanically-dyed by us!
All items in this collection are carefully botanically-dyed and painted in small batches. By nature, each item is unique. Efforts are made to provide a thorough description and photography that represents the colourways and unique characteristics of a naturally-dyed item though botanical dye colours can vary between batches. Please note that the photography represents an example of an item dyed with a particular dye, and you may receive an item dyed with the same material but that is slightly different.
