Cutch-Dyed Cotton Throw Cushion Covers
Dyed with the heartwood of Acacia Catechu, a small thorny tree found in India, Burma, Peru and Indonesia. The wood is steeped in hot water, and this liquid is then dried and ground into a powder that is used as a dye. The dye material is called “cutch” and it’s become a quick favourite for its ability to provide a range of tones including the rose and terracotta colours featured on these cushions.
Some of the cushion covers in this collection feature subtle resist patterning, you can choose between these or solid tones below.
These throw cushion covers are handmade from organic cotton muslin. Cushions measure 19”x19”. Finished with a hidden zipper along the bottom seam. Inserts are not included but a standard 20”x20” fill is recommended.
As necessary, wash with cold water and a natural, Ph neutral detergent on a gentle cycle or by hand. Botanical dyes are living colour in the truest sense and can shift and change with time and washing.
Ethically made and botanically dyed in Canada.
All items in this collection are carefully handmade and botanically-dyed. By nature, each item is unique. Efforts are made to provide a thorough description and photography that represents the colourways and unique characteristics of a naturally-dyed item though botanical dye colours can vary between batches. Please note that the photography represents an example of an item dyed with a particular dye, and you may receive an item dyed with the same material but that is slightly different. Wild Woven Collection embraces the concept of wabi-sabi - that something can be both beautiful and imperfect - and invites you to do the same.
